Cooperated with the Puppetry Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy performing Beauty and the Beast, a co-production with Quanzhou Gaojia Traditional Opera Company to the UK.
Delivered 3 performances and 4 workshops in 5 days visit, supported by Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of Exeter, Chickenshed Theatre, Goldsmiths Confucius Institute for Dance and Performance and Centre for Chinese Traditional Culture.

We worked with Shanghai Theatre Academy to deliver an educational event introducing the traditional Chinese puppet culture. Beauty and the Beast is an experimental piece presenting a Western fairy tale story by traditional Chinese opera with puppetry. The puppet workshops, lead by YU Yang, the lecturer from puppet department of Shanghai Theatre Academy, introducing and showing the puppet-making techniques on the spot.

Shades of Change was produced by the Shandong Academy of Arts and the Shandong Provincial Theatre Creation Studio.

Aiming towards contributing to audience development and cultural diversity in the UK, we launched a series of audience events among the UK-based Chinese community.

We interviewed the participating Chinese theatre professionals and academics during the 2-day event and provided full-coverage of the event through UK-based Chinese media platforms.

We offered consulting services for the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative office in the UK, to introduce Mr. Wu Hsing-Kuo, the famous Taiwanese artist, actor and Director of the Contemporary Legend Theatre, to Londoners through local audience events.

Masterclass and Workshop

Collaborating with the contemporary art magazine ART.ZIP, which is a seasonal English-Mandarin bilingual magazine published throughout the Asian and UK markets, we delivered the special theatre issue featuring more than 30 British theatre companies, venues, educational organisations, academics and professionals. Educated and informed Chinese readers about theatre “new writing” through rich content and well-planned structure.

Inspired by the success of our collaboration the previous year, we continued our co-operation with art magazine ART.ZIP, contributing to yet another edition. As our company has grown and become more deeply rooted in London, we were delighted to share our network of British Theatre professionals, and set the issue theme as “Visual Theatre”.

We took charge in the project for CPAA to achieve the first UK-China theatre management experience tour at the end of 2014, organizing a 4-day event for 20 leading Chinese theatre managers and artistic directors to visit leading British theatres.
