My Lover Was a Salmon in the Climate Apocalypse is an award-winning gig theatre production by Irish company Bradán that combines live folk music, storytelling, and dark comedy to explore the climate crisis through a distinctly unconventional lens. When climate anxiety drives Fin to believe he is becoming a salmon, the performance embarks on a surreal journey through ecology, food systems, mythology, colonialism, and environmental collapse. Blending humour with urgency, the work invites audiences to reflect on humanity’s relationship with the natural world while finding moments of collective connection and resilience.

The production won the Staging Change x VAULT Award 2022, recognising innovative theatre-making that demonstrates environmental awareness and sustainable practice.
