In Motion: British Physical Theatre Showcase in China was a touring programme supported by Arts Council England and produced by Performance Infinity. The project presented contemporary British physical theatre to audiences across China through a combination of live performances, film screenings, and engagement activities.
The programme featured four live productions and four theatre-on-screen presentations from six independent theatre companies based in England. Spanning a range of practices including physical theatre, puppetry, movement, live cinema, and visual storytelling, the selected works offered audiences an insight into the diversity of contemporary performance-making in England.
Presented across seven cities in China, In Motion also included workshops, artist talks, and professional exchange activities that brought together artists, audiences, presenters, and cultural organisations. The project created opportunities for artistic dialogue, audience engagement, and international collaboration between the performing arts sectors of the United Kingdom and China.
